Relative Accuracy Test Audit (RATA) is a procedure for confirming the data of a Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEM) System monitor is in agreement with a US EPA Reference Method test results.
Under the regulation, a CEMS must undergo a series of tests before certification. These include but are not limited to calibration error, linearity test and relative accuracy test to document CEMS performance and accuracy.
Parameters that may be included for RATA are:
- Oxides of Nitrogen (NOX)
- Sulfur Dioxide (SO2)
- Carbon Monoxide (CO)
Diluent monitors such as:
- Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
- Oxygen (O2)
Other parameters:
- Stack Gas Velocity
- Stack Gas Volumetric Flow Rate
- Stack Gas Temperature and Stack Gas Pressure
A minimum of nine 21 minutes test run (up to a maximum of 12 test run) are performed to validate the CEM system performance. Test data are released to the client at the end of the day and final full report on an agreed date thereafter for submission to Ministry of Environment (MoE).
NewTech Qatar utilizes the use of a source emission test vehicle or “mobile lab” to comply with the US EPA Reference Method requirements for RATA. The “mobile lab” is equipped with the new API/Teledyne Analyzers model series. The data acquisition software used for RATA is called STRATA® which is provided by AMP Cherokee, a fast-growing company that also provides CEMS RATA services in the United States.
